And Then You Were One
This past weekend, we celebrated Thomas’s first birthday and I’m going to be a bit cliche in saying that I can’t believe how quickly time has flown by. I know most people refer to the 1+ age group as toddlers, but I look at him and I still see this sweet little cuddly baby. Although the same sweet cuddly baby who used to keep us up at night is now keeping us on our toes during the day. We’ve reached the newly climbing and trying to walk stage and now all of our furniture has become his own personal jungle gym, haha. Send help.
For his birthday celebrations, we had a small get together with family at our condo. I made this cake from What Molly Made and it was a big hit, especially with the birthday boy. Despite the face he was making in these photos, he really did enjoy his first slice of real cake. He was probably just thinking we were all crazy because we couldn’t stop climbing over each other taking photos.
I went back and forth on the idea of constructing my own cake recipe, but in the end, I ran out of time. I’m still working on how to juggle this blog and being a mom, so hopefully, those with more experience on this type of time management can weight in on what they do. I really do miss recipe testing, taking photos and blogging so hopefully I can get back into the swing of things soon.
In the meantime though, I’m definitely going to work on my cake piping skills. I figure by the time he is 18 I’ll be able to pipe his name in a less dramatic and terrifying way. 🙂
Happy Birthday Thomas!
Thank you for a magical first year.
Love Mommy and Daddy
Awe he’s adorable!! Good for you for making a cake, I just made some cupcakes (no sugar, of course, haha). I have since relaxed a bit on the nice healthy foods, time gets more and more crunched as they get older and you get more and more tired!!
Haha I have the same hat for my son! Dollarama special? 🙂
