I too have wonderful loving memories of my maternal grandmother. Along with them, I have recipes in her hand. Candied fruit was always a grandma ingredient. My desire to venture into that realm was never fostered. When I read your story, I suddenly had a strong desire to go there. I used an entire cup of fruit, left the raisins out since my cupboard lacked them, The loaf is fulfilling in many ways!
